Christy Joehl, 23, was born in Princeton, Illinois – a quaint farming town of 7,000 people. Growing up in the rural Midwest, Christy was constantly inspired by the beauty of her natural surroundings. When her passion for culture led her to New York City in 2014, her roots began to merge with the colorful, stimulating environment creating an aesthetic all her own. "New York presented opportunities that challenged me, some of which would change the course of my entire career. New York was where I discovered my childhood passion had a true purpose."
From the moment Christy could hold a pencil, she preferred a blank sheet of paper to any coloring book. By fourteen, she was painting large canvases and experimenting with watercolor, acrylic, pastels, and mixed media. Like her love of art, fashion was an interest discovered early. She found an outlet creating paper dolls and would spend hours carefully crafting a miniature wardrobe and set pieces to match. This would come to foreshadow her future projects for Ralph Lauren's global window design team, where her artwork would be featured in stores all over the world.
Christy graduated from Purdue University in 2016 and currently works for Tapestry (formerly Coach Inc.) in the Global Environments division, where she executes openings of new global stores. In addition, she continues to complete artwork for various clients. Whether it is painting storefront windows in Brooklyn, creating custom illustrations, designing wedding invitations, or creating artwork for set pieces; she enjoys any project where she can utilize her creativity.
“Art will always be a part of me. Every day, I like to believe my dreams are in the making. Every decision is a step towards where I am supposed to be, and I am enjoying every minute of it."
